MikroTik hAP ac lite (RB952Ui-5ac2nD) – Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router

Description

The MikroTik hAP ac lite (RB952Ui-5ac2nD) is a compact dual-band wireless router designed for home networks, small offices and basic business connectivity. It combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networking with five Ethernet ports and MikroTik RouterOS, providing flexible network management in a compact desktop device.

The hAP ac lite is suitable for users who need wired and wireless connectivity in one device. It can be used for everyday internet access, connecting computers and other Ethernet devices, and providing Wi-Fi coverage in homes, small offices, shops and similar environments.

Dual-Band Wi-Fi Connectivity

The MikroTik hAP ac lite supports wireless networking on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. The 2.4GHz band is useful for compatible devices and can offer better coverage through some indoor obstacles, while the 5GHz band can provide additional wireless capacity where supported devices and local conditions allow.

The router supports 802.11b/g/n wireless networking on 2.4GHz and 802.11a/n/ac on 5GHz. Its advertised combined wireless data rate is up to approximately 500Mbps across both bands under suitable conditions. This is a theoretical combined wireless rate, not a guarantee of internet speed or the throughput available to one device.

Actual performance depends on interference, distance, walls, client-device capabilities, internet service speed and network configuration. For larger homes, busy offices or high-density wireless deployments, consider whether a newer access point with greater capacity would better meet your requirements.

Five Ethernet Ports

The hAP ac lite includes five 10/100 Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices such as desktop computers, printers, network equipment and compatible uplink devices. These Fast Ethernet ports operate at up to 100Mbps per port, so this model is best suited to networks that do not require Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.

The multiple Ethernet interfaces allow the router to serve as a compact networking point for a small office or home. Users needing wired speeds above 100Mbps should compare Gigabit Ethernet alternatives before purchasing.

Flexible Power over Ethernet

The RB952Ui-5ac2nD supports PoE input on Ethernet port 1 and passive PoE output on Ethernet port 5. This can help simplify certain installations by allowing a compatible device to receive power over Ethernet.

PoE output is subject to the router’s input supply and power limits. Verify the required voltage, polarity and power consumption of any connected device before using PoE output. Do not assume that the port supports every active PoE standard.

MikroTik RouterOS Management

The hAP ac lite runs MikroTik RouterOS, giving network administrators options for configuring routing, IP addressing, firewall rules, wireless settings, bandwidth controls and other network functions supported by the hardware and installed software version.

RouterOS can be useful for small businesses and technically experienced home users who want more control than a basic plug-and-play router offers. The device can be configured to suit different network environments, but the available performance depends on the workload and configuration.

Compact Design for Home and Small Offices

Its compact form makes the hAP ac lite easy to position on a desk, shelf or suitable indoor location. It is designed primarily for indoor use and is suitable for everyday connectivity in homes, small offices, retail premises and other small environments.

For larger premises, multiple access points or a dedicated wireless access point may be more appropriate than relying on a single compact router. Check the expected number of connected devices, coverage area and internet bandwidth before selecting your equipment.

Who Should Buy the MikroTik hAP ac lite?

This router is worth considering for users who need dual-band Wi-Fi, several wired connections and MikroTik RouterOS at an affordable entry point. Potential applications include home internet sharing, small office networking, basic retail connectivity and learning or testing MikroTik configurations.

However, the five Ethernet ports are limited to 10/100Mbps. If your network requires Gigabit wired connectivity, faster broadband distribution or demanding modern Wi-Fi performance, compare this product with newer MikroTik models before making a purchase.
