PoE Input and Output

The hEX S supports DC power input through its DC jack or a compatible Ethernet power source. Its PoE input supports passive PoE and IEEE 802.3af/at, within the manufacturer’s specified voltage range of 12–57V DC.

Ethernet port 5 also supports passive PoE output for compatible devices. This can simplify certain installations by allowing a supported access point or other passive-PoE device to receive power through its Ethernet connection.

PoE output is limited to a maximum total current of 500mA. Check the connected device’s voltage, polarity and power requirements carefully before using this feature. PoE output is passive and should not be assumed to support every active-PoE device.

RouterOS for Flexible Network Management

The MikroTik hEX S runs RouterOS with a Level 4 licence. Its dual-core 880MHz CPU and 256MB RAM support a broad range of routing and network-management features.

Depending on the configuration, RouterOS can be used for:
