The Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Long-Range is a Wi-Fi 7 access point designed to provide high-performance wireless connectivity for homes, offices, hotels, schools, retail premises and commercial environments. WI-FI 7 DUAL-BAND CONNECTIVITY

The U7-LR operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The 2.4 GHz band supports a wide range of compatible devices, while the 5 GHz band offers higher potential data rates for applications that need additional wireless capacity.

Ubiquiti specifies maximum theoretical data rates of up to 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 4.3 Gbps on 5 GHz under the stated channel-width conditions. The access point uses two spatial streams on 2.4 GHz and three on 5 GHz, providing five spatial streams in total. These figures represent theoretical radio rates rather than guaranteed internet speeds for an individual client.

The U7-LR also supports compatible earlier Wi-Fi standards, allowing supported Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5 and other compatible devices to connect. The actual features and performance available depend on the client device and wireless configuration.

2.5 GIGABIT ETHERNET UPLINK

The access point features one 2.5 GbE RJ45 network interface. Connecting it to a compatible multi-gigabit switch helps provide greater wired capacity than a standard Gigabit Ethernet uplink. This is useful when supporting demanding wireless clients, multiple active users and applications that transfer large amounts of data across the local network.

For best results, use suitable Ethernet cabling and ensure that your switch, router and upstream connection can support the expected traffic.

POWER OVER ETHERNET

The U7 Long-Range uses Power over Ethernet, allowing power and network data to travel over one Ethernet cable. Ubiquiti specifies a maximum power consumption of 14 W and a supported voltage range of 42.5–57V DC. Use a compatible PoE source and check the available power budget before installation. Confirm with Globikom whether a power injector is included in the package if you are not using a PoE switch.

WIRELESS COVERAGE AND CAPACITY

Ubiquiti specifies a coverage area of approximately 160 m² and support for more than 300 clients. These are manufacturer estimates, not guarantees that every device will receive high throughput throughout that area. Building materials, walls, interference, access point placement and simultaneous client activity affect real-world coverage.

For larger offices, hotels, campuses and multi-room premises, multiple access points may be needed. Good placement, channel planning and suitable wired backhaul help deliver more consistent coverage and performance.

CENTRALISED UNIFI NETWORK MANAGEMENT

The U7-LR is managed through the UniFi Network application. Administrators can configure wireless networks, monitor clients and manage compatible UniFi equipment from a central interface. Depending on the software version and network configuration, available capabilities include guest access, client isolation, wireless roaming assistance, band steering and network segmentation.

INDOOR INSTALLATION

The U7 Long-Range is designed for ceiling or wall mounting.
